Perfume helps Hermes to 11% jump in sales

Sales at the French luxury goods group Hermes rose 11.3% in the first quarter of the year, driven by a leap in perfume sales.
The company, best known for its top-of-the-range leather handbags and luggage and trademark silk scarves and ties, said sales in the quarter to March were €362m (£250m).
Like-for-like sales of bags and luggage - Hermes' biggest earner - rose 4% to €137.7m, while clothing and accessories were stable at €78m.
The strongest growth was in the perfumes division, where sales soared nearly 46% on last year to €24m. Its fragrances include Rocabar and Eau d'Hermes.
